In micro-needling the skin is treated with a dermaroller or a dermapen equipped with many very fine, short needles. The needles penetrate the top layer of the skin, the epidermis, stimulating certain receptors and resulting in the increased release of growth factors in the skin. These growth factors in turn stimulate the production of new collagen and elastic fibers and hyaluronic acid in the connective tissue – resulting in greater elasticity and firmness.
